Environmental conservation meets peregrination!
Canadian environmental organization A Greener Future has organized The Great Camino Cleanup. Beginning on May 20th for three weeks, Rochelle Archibald and Mike Byrne will walk the over 600 kilometers of the Camino Portugués, picking up litter and organizing educational events along their way. The small-footprint, eco-friendly project aims to restore and preserve this centuries-old branch of the Camino de Santiago for future generations of pilgrims—learn more about the Camino Portugués here. You can follow the progress of The Great Camino Cleanup on Twitter and Instagram (#CaminoCleanup).
Founded in 2014, A Greener Future is a young non-profit dedicated to working with local communities to promote environmental preservation through organized cleanups, educational programs, and events. The Great Camino Cleanup is sponsored in large part by CaminoWays.com through The Green Life Fund, in accordance with their commitment to responsible travel.
Full project details, as well as information on how to get involved as a sponsor, can be found on the Greener Future website.
